TEMPORARY PATHWAYS
Work Permits & LMIA Support
Canadian work authorisation runs through two broad routes: employer-specific permits supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment, and open or LMIA-exempt permits available under specific policy and treaty provisions.

OVERVIEW
Employer Compliance. Applicant Eligibility. Correct Category.
Selecting the correct work permit category is the single most consequential decision in a work authorisation file. An LMIA-exempt route that applies to your circumstances can save months of processing and substantial cost.
We advise both employers and applicants—on recruitment and advertising obligations, wage requirements, compliance duties during the employment period, and the applicant-side permit application itself.
What This Includes

SCOPE OF SERVICE
How We Support This Pathway
LMIA Applications
Preparation of Labour Market Impact Assessment applications under the correct high-wage or low-wage stream based on the provincial or territorial median wage threshold, including recruitment and advertising compliance, transition planning, and employer attestation requirements.
Employer-Specific Work Permits
Closed work permit applications supported by an approved LMIA or an offer of employment submitted through the Employer Portal under a recognised LMIA exemption.
Post-Graduation Work Permits
PGWP applications confirmed against the current eligibility rules: graduation from an eligible program of at least eight months at a designated learning institution, the language requirement introduced in late 2024 (a higher standard for degree programs than for most college and non-university programs), and—for non-degree programs—the field-of-study requirement now tied to occupations in long-term labour shortage. Applications must be filed within 180 days of receiving confirmation of program completion, and the PGWP can only be issued once in a lifetime.
Bridging Open Work Permits
BOWP applications that allow you to continue working while a permanent residence application is in process, filed within the eligibility window.
Spousal & Open Work Permits
Open work permit applications for spouses and partners of eligible skilled workers and students—eligibility for this category was narrowed in recent policy changes and now depends on the principal applicant's occupation skill level, so this is confirmed at the outset rather than assumed.
